#Afropunkfest

Hey ya'll !! I know I've been really inconsistent with this. I've been distracted lately, living life, hahaha. This blog has been sitting in draft mode on my computer since August. I'm actually in class writing this.  However, I want to tell you guys about my trip to New York for Afro Punk Fest!! I bought tickets for the festival in February and planned from there. I keep telling y'all I have no way of planning my trips, if I can't be flexible with my traveling days, I start looking early. All together I paid 50$ for the festival ticket 120 for a round trip to New York and 180 for an Airbnb because my EX came out there with me also. Which gives us a Grand total of 350$$. Not bad. My opinion.

First of all,New York is dope. If rent wasn't so damn high I'll consider moving there. The city is so alive, it's so much life there. Way more than Chicago. Shit does Chicago even have life? I guess it depends on who you know but with New York, it doesn't matter who you know. You want to be apart of the fun, cool come join, If not that's cool too. Like seriously that's the vibe I get from New York. Also, New York street style is unmatched. I have yet to go somewhere and not get so much inspiration just from walking down the street.

The food scene is unmatched also. I'm from Chicago, which is a big foodie state but the scene there is different. First of all, the food scene is the best when the weather is warm. Open patios and bottomless mimosas every day.  Anyway, while walking around Manhattan we entered some random taco spot and it was live. I was just shocked at how vibrant the energy was. Like I said Chicago is a big foodie place but the scenes are never that exciting, that I've been to. I really wanted to go this brunch spot in Brooklyn but never made it but that's fine I just have an excuse to go back lol.  The first day we just wondered around and ate all day lmao. This was my second time visiting but it also was a blizzard my first visit so I wanted to walk around and take in the city.

The next day was the Afro punk fest, which is really dope, there is so much creativity that you get to witness attending. This was such a breath of fresh air from the same ol same ol. Today you log onto instagram and every body looks the same, i don't know who the hell is who but not my business. Anyway, there are 6 stages i believe, and people performing from 12pm til 12 am. Yes I was out there all day, it was my first time.  I wasn't missing ANYTHING. The food and drinks are priced at regular festival prices. Which is always crazy to me, 12$ for a drink?! How many people are in this park you'll think they'll be considerate and price at half. It's not like they're using top shelf liquor.  I kinda wished I would've bought tickets for both days but It is what it is. I still had fun, probably be the last festival I ever attend but that is another story for another day.

All in all if you've never been I recommend checking it out. The tickets to the festival are cheap if you get them ahead of time, some people said they paid 120 for one day. You can pay that for both days if you purchase ahead of time. Also, if you're a creative like me you'll find inspiration around every corner.  The problem is following through with it.
